Dwarves
Thorin Oakenshield:Appearance: Old, Silver haired, Sky-Blue hood with a silver tassel. Owner of Orcrist
Leader and eldest of the dwarves, he is the first Fallen King and seeking his return. He is proud and sometimes a bit bullheaded, but he is still loveable.
Balin:
Appearance: Old, white beard, scarlet hood.
The second oldest and second in command. The dwarves' appointed watchman. He has the sharpest eyes--in actual and figurative terms. He senses Biblo's innate goodness. He is the visionary, he wants to return to the site of ancient glory, his homeland, Khazad-Dum.
Dwalin:
Appearance: Blue beard tucked under a gold belt, bright eyes, dark green hood.
The brooding silent type that prefers to respond in nods but misses very little--he's the one who asks "Where's Thorin?"
Dori:
Appearance: Purple hood
He's the strongest yet the most sensitive of the dwarves. While he may grumble, he is reliable and not easily unsettled. He is a team player and helped Bilbo repeatly out of tight corners.
Nori:
Appearance: Purple hood
The referee between Dori and Ori. He balances the team view with the personal one.
Ori:
Appearance: Grey hood
Like Nori he is a realist. He is perfectly willing to help others but at the bottom line he knows he's in it for the treasure. They are mercenaries.
Fili & Kili:
Appearance: Yellow beard, silver belt, blue hood, usually carrying the group's tools.
I mention these together because though they are brothers they're more like twins. Also, being the youngest of the dwarves they are more likely to be merry and fun-filled. They often finish each others sentences and try to go one better than the other. But, ultimately, it is their commitment to family that is more important than any other thing.
Gloin:
Gloin has a white hood
Father of Gimli. He is definitely a fighter. Also, a fire-starting expert. Along with his brother he can start a fire in almost any condition.
Oin:
Appearance: Oin has a brown hood
Like Gloin, he is a survivalist--remember he's a great firestarter. He loves hot work, metalurgy and battle. But in a pinch he would have been willing to dump Bilbo.
Bifur
Appearance: Yellow hood
Sees the whole thing as an adventure with a return to family standing and fortunes. Along with cousin Bifur he watches over "little" brother Bombur.
Bofur:
Appearance: Yellow hood
Like his cousin, he is an opportunist. If a chance presents itself he will not turn away.
Bombur:
Appearance: Very fat, pale green hood.
I saved him for last, since he hates being last. Bombur has the closest nature to Bilbo. He knows the most important things in life are a warm bed and plenty of food! Like Hobbits he loves creature comforts.
